The Impact of Surfing on the Local Economy of the Lahinch Area

As part of the case to protect the waves at Crab Island and Doolin  Surfaroundireland.com prepared a report on the economic impact of surfing in the area. The study measured the economic impact that surfing has in the Lahinch Area and was complied with data from an online survey was completed by surfers in Ireland.

The Lahinch Area Surf Economic Report Nov 2010 was a vital element in the case to protect the waves at Crab Island and Doolin from potential adverse impacts of a new pier.

This report highlights the economic importance of surfing to the Lahinch Area and estimated that surfing is worth approximately €33,873,000 annually to the local economy; from domestic surfers only.
