6 days down in Clare with surf on the mind, first stop West Coast Lodge. I’m pretty much down around Lahinch every odd week now and it’s becoming like a second home.
On Tuesday we caught the back end of a great weekend of waves, I heard Crab was pumping for days. Out in the water every day with a truly memberable session on Wednesday evening… probably some of the best waves I’ve ever caught – about shoulder high and chunky.
Fickle Irish weather ensured wave conditions were on and off; to keep the outdoor activity going, when the waves were against us, we popped down to Doolin for a couple of games of pitch n putt. Yes you read correctly a couple of surfers actually contributing to the local economy of Doolin, imagine that!
Friday evening brought together the Doolin Pier group; we set out our next route of action following the granting of the new pier beside Crab Island.
Not much photography done this week but here’s a shot from a previous trip down that way:
Oh and it was Ben’s Surf Clinic birthday, with a bash for him at the lodge. Ben gave a lecture to an attentive bunch with wave forecasting being the topic of discussion.
